Wollongong/Kiama
Wollongong is a seaside city located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales. It is approximately 82 kilometres south of Sydney.
It is known in slang as "the Gong". Wollongong is a city with a long history of mining and industry, having coal mines, a steelworks and an industrial port. The city also attracts numerous tourists each year and is a regional centre for the South Coast fishing industry. Wollongong is noted for its numerous surfing beaches, scenic lookouts and botanic gardens.
Another location further south of Wollongong is Kiama. One of the main tourist attractions is the Kiama Blowhole. The seaside town features several popular surfing beaches, caravan parks and numerous alfresco cafes and restaurants. It is the first country town south of Sydney, and attracts a large number of day trippers.
